- minimal equipment: a mat to start with (and then access to dog-walk later on) and RC DVD
- minimal space: 15 m
- all levels welcomeMost work in this class is done with no equipment and just a mat: working on turns, soft turns, straight exits, and various handling before any DW work, so you don't need much room to start off.
Here are some graduation videos of dogs from the previous classes. I chose different sizes and only those who started from zero so you can see how far they got in less than 4 months:
The class is appropriate for total beginners (from 7 months old on), retrains from 2on2off and all who have running contacts already (even if not trained with a mat), but want to work on various exits or any other aspect of RC - all the feedback is completely individual, so all levels are welcome. I will also publish all the lessons right at the start of the class, so you can continue from wherever you currently are.
Minimum age for this class is 7 months and the minimum equipment is now just the DVD + a mat - like a towel or a doormat - and later on occasional access to a dog-walk, ideally one that can be lowered.
This class is 12 weeks long (+2 weeks of a catch up break in between). The next class starts on January 25, BUT those who took my Running Contacts class before are welcome to join "Repeaters only" RC class that will start right after every "normal" RC class (that typically runs twice a year).
The first-ever repeaters-only RC class will start on October 31 and run for 12 weeks (no catch-up break), so until January 22, so there is no gap before the next "normal" RC class that starts on January 25.
The only requirement for this class is that you took my RC class before (not necessarily the last class) and have access to all the lessons there. There are two different prices, based on whether you took the class with the same or another dog. There is no additional material in this class, its purpose is solely to offer continued feedback and support throughout the whole process.

Hi Silvia -- i have done the RC with my dog Rush-uh, so i would like to do a repeater course and do it with my new puppy -- what do i sign up for a repeater and participant?
Repeaters are only those taking it again with the same dog, so you are participant with your new pup…
hi Silvia, i want to do a repeater with Rush-uh (120eur) and do my puppy Kenya, participant (180eur) is that correct?
You can take 2nd dog price for her since you’re signing up both.
when will sign up be available for the RDW course
It will open beginning of August.
Hello Sylvia
I subscribed for the last RC course but I wasn’t able to follow it for health reason, I sent you a mail and you told me that I’ll can follow the August course is it alright.
If yes, how does it work to get the subscription ?
I switched your access already then, so you should be able to enter the classroom once it opens. See you in class!
Hi Silvia!
Sum and I will joiny RC in augusy again 😀 But we still can only train once a week, so I don’t expect us to get trail ready in that class (would be great if we do so ofcourse!), so maybe we will need even a 3th time RC class ^^ 😉 Therefor I am wondering if you already have an idear when next (not august) RC will be? 🙂
Thanks!
🙂 Probably January-February.
Great that’s pretty much right after RC class from august! Perfect 🙂
Hi Sylvia -- I am thinking of doing this class with both my dogs….one I have already started on RCs and the other is a re-train. Do I pay for 2 participant classes? As my retrain is currently in the middle of a season of trialling, would you recommend waiting for the end of the season and joining your next class in January/February?
No, you pay for one participant and one 2nd dog (3rd option). No problem to keep trialing while starting with RC.
Ok -- thanks -- that would be 300 Euro then? I already have the dvd 🙂
Yes.
Hey Silvia
I am thinking of doing this class with my BC and I see that you recommend a minimum of 3.8m for the wooden plank. In South Africa the normal downward plank is 3.6m I don’t have access to a dogwalk regularly so I would like to do all my training on a plank and then transition to a dogwalk,so I am not sure what length of plank is the best option. I also saw that you said a maximum thickness of 20mm thick and dogwalk width just to confirm. Thank you Taryn
3.6 plank should do if you have a smaller/shorter strided dog. Most BCs will be tempted to do just one hit on that length, so it would be great to have two 3.6 planks and use them as up ramp to down ramp. It’s possible to improvise also when this is not an option, but transition to normal DW is easiest the longer and speedier set up you can build…
For flat work, it’s important the plank is thin OR the edge is digged into the ground well to keep their toes safe from stepping on the edge.
Hi Silvia -- Will this class have unlimited enrollment for repeaters? I may be unable to sign up until a few days after it starts. But I can’t wait!!!
Cindy & Ponyboy
Yes, you can register at any point. See you back in class! 🙂
ciao Silvia, from which date is it possible to register for RC? If I pay now 115 euros as an auditor, how much shall I pay after for the classes?
Thannks!
Marina
Registration opened just now 🙂 I didn’t understand what you mean by paying after for the classes? You pay once, at registration.
Because when I try to pay, Paypal tells me that I have to pay 115 euros only -- not 180… Why?
Thanks for your kind reply
Marina
That was repeaters’ price. Click on participant option -- it was not on yet until just a bit back, so maybe you need to refresh.
