OMG!
I'm still in a denial stage, but I guess ultrasound doesn't lie and we might need great homes for 7 lovely mixes... If they take any after their mother, they will be extremely smart, extremely cuddly and super talented for agility. If they take after their father, they will be smart, determined, unstoppable, sneaky, fast and do-ers.
To start the story at the beginning... So, after her last heat, To got rather careful, calm and slow(er). And really fat, so I first tried to get some weight off... And then realized she must have false pregnancy... So I was waiting for it to pass and actually stopped doing agility as she was just too fat to run... - but as she was just getting fatter&fatter, I took her to the vet with me when Le had tooth extraction and told them To has really bad false pregnancy and what to do about it. But hm, well, as usually, it turned out I'm wrong and To is right...
She seems very proud of herself and is taking a good care of her huge belly, so I think she will make a good mum. The puppies should be born between February 10 and 15. We're not sure who the father is - most likely a local mix that looks a bit like smooth PyrShep x Toller mix (but isn't of course) of about 47cm.
I've had unspayed females for 19 years and never understood how something like this can happen, but well, I guess I know now... - She was alone in the (fenced) yard for max. 5min...
Anyway, I'm still in shock and need some time to digest this, but I guess I have some trials to cancel and probably also some on line classes to move to later dates, so... Will let you know more once I regroup and accept To has a tiny bit different plans as I did...
I guess it won't be all that peaceful much longer:
Sometimes the best adventures are the ones we didn’t plan! 🙂 Have fun!!
Hi Silvia, how are you and To doing? It’s getting close to the due date . We’re all thinking of you !
Hi Silvia!!! wooww beautiful puppies, and To will be a wonderful mother!! 🙂
I experienced a situation like yours in October 2014. My female went into heat ahead of time (I had already made an appointment to the vet for sterilization) and I realized the pregnancy when it had puppies about 40 days. Fortunately he chose Sonik, who was only 9 months !! So…were born 6 puppies and I held one of them. A fantastic puppy, very sweet, smart and fast !! Nature always makes the best choice!
Yeah, I noticed changes after 2 weeks of pregnancy, but I thought it’s false pregnancy… Until it got just too weird, so at about 40th day as well, we realized the puppies are not fake at all 🙂
eheh i know that feel! In just 2 weeks I completely emptied a room, prepared a whelpiing box, I checked out all the possible problems on the birth of the puppies, and learned to do the neurological stimulation. Fortunately Cinzia helped me a lot! These two months will be intense, full of responsibility, joy, happiness, and many many cleanings! but it is one of the most beautiful experiences! If I could I would have taken one of these little wonders!
