OMG!

puppies!, To

I'm still in a denial stage, but I guess ultrasound doesn't lie and we might need great homes for 7 lovely mixes... If they take any after their mother, they will be extremely smart, extremely cuddly and super talented for agility. If they take after their father, they will be smart, determined, unstoppable, sneaky, fast and do-ers.

To start the story at the beginning... So, after her last heat, To got rather careful, calm and slow(er). And really fat, so I first tried to get some weight off... And then realized she must have false pregnancy... So I was waiting for it to pass and actually stopped doing agility as she was just too fat to run... - but as she was just getting fatter&fatter, I took her to the vet with me when Le had tooth extraction and told them To has really bad false pregnancy and what to do about it. But hm, well, as usually, it turned out I'm wrong and To is right...

She seems very proud of herself and is taking a good care of her huge belly, so I think she will make a good mum. The puppies should be born between February 10 and 15. We're not sure who the father is - most likely a local mix that looks a bit like smooth PyrShep x Toller mix (but isn't of course) of about 47cm.

I've had unspayed females for 19 years and never understood how something like this can happen, but well, I guess I know now... - She was alone in the (fenced) yard for max. 5min...

Anyway, I'm still in shock and need some time to digest this, but I guess I have some trials to cancel and probably also some on line classes to move to later dates, so... Will let you know more once I regroup and accept To has a tiny bit different plans as I did...

I guess it won't be all that peaceful much longer:

OMG! Sometimes life goes weirdo for sure and you can only keep calm and keep smiling! But maybe a happy surprise puppy for you! Banksy was my first unspayed dog-I couldn’t take it though and she got spayed in summer because I was so paranoid in my neighborhood with so many intact male dogs around, and also the coyotes on our hikes! Best wishes to mama To!

I always lived in a city, so I’m not used to free-roaming dogs at all… -- never had a problem! I’m way more careful now, but especially with Bi that stands for anyone from day 1… But To! A real shock!

OMG is certainly right!!! Wow. Something tells me To is not the first conquest this male has had πŸ™‚ given how quickly he got it done! Oh my can’t wait to see photos. Could they tell how far along? Best of luck to everyone involved. Ha and I see your couch pillows look just like mine πŸ™‚

I think he knew what he was doing yes πŸ™‚ They can’t really tell that, but calculating from her 1st day of heat, it should be February 10-15.

What a surprise! It sounds like a funny story (but for you maybe not now) and I hope you can enjoy it -- since you can’t change it πŸ™‚

Yeah, I think it might be funny one day πŸ™‚

Oh my, To is full of surprises!!! πŸ™‚ But what a cool experience for you to see how much a puppy can learn in their first 8 weeks of life! I see a new chapter for your Puppy Diary DVD! πŸ™‚ I bet by the time To’s pups are 8 weeks old they will know A LOT of tricks! Looking forward to following their progress! Best of luck to you all!

At the moment, I’m not all that excited about it, but hopefully I change my mind when they’re out and I don’t need to panic anymore To is going to explode or something.

Oh dear!!!! I can not even imagine the feeling when you got this news!!????? My stomach would have turned into a tight little ball!!!! I suppose this is what parents feel when their teenage girls spring the news. That is just the craziest! To decided she wanted to be first in many things. Your first grand puppies!!! Grandma Silvia!!!! Who knew! Life has ways of throwing things at us we just never plan for, right? There are worse surprises, but this one sure is a big one!

    • LoLaBu January 22, 2016 at 20:11 Log in to Reply

I guess it could be worse as well yes! If it all goes as smoothly as that mating did, then we’ll be fine πŸ™‚ She is just so BIG it looks scary!

      • Amy January 22, 2016 at 21:48 Log in to Reply

Hah, yes, well I think pregnant women look scary, too. :O How DO they do it???? I have only been to one human birthing and I can’t say it was that awesome magical experience everyone says. I don’t ever want to be at another, LOL!!! But, as a vet tech I assisted in many “problem” births and the dogs do amazingly well. To will be fine! I wish everyone happy and healthy entrance to the world! πŸ˜€ An experience you never expected is sometimes one that turns into a great memory! πŸ˜€ To decided you needed that, apparently! Silly To!

πŸ™‚ Sia just in case you should prepare yourself for them coming a little eariler πŸ™‚ As you know I’m keeping my fingers crossed for that option :)IN which case we’ll have to talk about child support πŸ™‚

    • LoLaBu January 22, 2016 at 20:08 Log in to Reply

Yeah, maybe she is just paying me back for all the jokes I was making about her fake puppies! And now wants to prove me wrong not only on that one, but also on how well I sleep!

  8. Steffi Trott January 22, 2016 at 15:44 Log in to Reply

Oh WOW! That is some news! They come at a rather interesting time as I have an appt with a reproductive vet in 2 hours to discuss spaying or not…I think I’ll tend a lot more towards spaying now, crazy how fast this happened with To!

Hope she will enjoy motherhood πŸ™‚ And that you will enjoy the puppies, too, once they are there. Cannot wait to see how they grow up in Lolabuland πŸ™‚

    • LoLaBu January 22, 2016 at 20:06 Log in to Reply

Yeah, I’ve seen many planned breedings -- and it was NEVER nearly as fast and easy!!!

  9. Matthias Kirk January 22, 2016 at 18:02 Log in to Reply

    Congratulations, To!
I am sure your puppies will be great. How could’t they be? I suppose they will be lifelong Lolabuland premium members πŸ˜‰

    • LoLaBu January 22, 2016 at 20:05 Log in to Reply

Yes, that’s for sure! I’m already adjusting dates of future classes for them πŸ™‚
