Simply The Best
Did I say before I have the coolest little dog ever?!? I guess every new dog makes me appreciate my older dogs even more... So the older they are and the more younger dogs I have, the more I appreciate them ๐ I guess I'll never again have a dog with La's working ethics, a dog who would do ANYTHING for a piece of kibble, a dog who is never bored, tired, unfocused, afraid, unsure, lacking confidence or courage. She is always up for anything - even at 13,5 years and even when undergoing chemo treatment and fighting a very nasty cancer!
We have been doing many tricks lately as she is too fat to do much of agility at the moment, but I still want her to get her turn when others get to do agility. It sure reminds me of what a super star trick dog she is. She is not so much of a thinker, but she certainly is a doer! And she can do it all! - We'll have to make a video of her new tricks! Since we were talking about how to clicker train a deaf dog before - I ended up simply delivering food as quickly as possible after desired behaviour. I guess that after 13 years of learning tricks, she can guess just fine what is the reward for and is doing just as great also without hearing! Such a cool little dog! I sure was extremely wise back in 2001 to name her Simply The Best! ๐
She sure changed my perspective on chemo treatment and has absolutely no problems anymore, not even after chemo! The only remaining sign is no hair on her face, but she is getting the pigment back now and got some pretty merly spots on the skin now.
Looks like she just needs to scare me to death every 6,5 years - first with stomach perforation at 6,5 years and 6,5 years later with nasal tumor. So let's see what she is up to in another 6,5 years! ๐ (- And yes, I know that the metastasis can show up any time, but she sure gives me plenty of reasons to be optimistic!)
beautiful pictures Silvia! So glad to see La happy and feeling better. <3
So beautiful little La! I’m so happy that treatment worked!!
And I know exactly what you mean by saying “the older they are and the more younger dogs I have, the more I appreciate them”! <3
Amazing little dog, I am sooooo happy for you!! <3
La is looking great! Glad that she is doing so well!
Sooo happy to read this! I know a girl who had a “thumb up” for clicker sound and another one who used a flashlight instead of clicker. Of course both with deaf dogs.
Wish you manny more tricks and fun with La and others!
Every dog’s lover knows what it means to have a ill dog, I home La will entirely recover and will have lot of fun again with you
So great to hear good news!!!, She is amazing!!!! I haven’t had quite the same luck with deaf Roscoe training, he starts guessing SO much and it starts to get too frantic and I guess my timing isn’t as good as yours. Inwould LOVE to see her new tricks!!!
She might have the same problem with completely new tricks yes, but I don’t have many completely new ones (lacking ideas…) and mostly work on old ones further or in new variations, focusing mostly on conditioning aspects as we need to get her back in shape! I was so worried she will lose weight on chemo (given that she was really thin when we diagnosed her) that I let her get a bit too fat ๐
YAY La!!! ๐ Can’t wait to see your “Simply the Best Tricks with Trickster La” video! ๐
Wonderful news and photos !!! This is SURE amazing results ๐ ๐ always fun to watch La -- esp on vids ๐ ๐ ๐
what a good news & beautiful pictures, amazing La !!! Even “recovery is just another trick” for her ! ๐
