NEW!!! - BeyondFoundations online class Trailer

BEYOND Foundations class discusses Which line - Which move - And Why. This class is appropriate for all who have basic Foundations skills. You only need 1 tunnel and 6 jumps. Actually, even just 4 jumps alone will make it possible to run everything, broken in parts. This class is handling-focused - we'll be focusing on how to choose the best line for your dog, in combination with the best handling move for you.

All the sequences in this class are taken from recent trials - that either I ran or we discussed in Graduates class. I on purpose picked those where there were many possible handling options - both on which move to choose and on which line to choose. We'll try various options on the same set up and you can then time them to see which one is fastest for your dog. We'll try all other options too, just to be ready for any challenge agility course can bring.

There are 5 different sequences, each with various options for handling and the lines you can choose - I show all options with my dogs, with video comparisons in slow motion + analysis of what worked best etc. We'll also discuss how to choose best and most efficient line and handling in trials, so you are welcome to send course maps from your trials/training that you want to discuss as well.

You can join and end this class any time you want - it stays open for ever, so you can register now, enter the classroom and post any time you want.

Great, Thank you What about Xtreme foundations, would he be able to do that one too?

That one has lots of emphasis on verbals normally. However, I guess we could adjust the program for him and focus on clear body cues instead of verbals.

That’s Great, Thank you! I’ll think about it, and then decide which course to do with him 🙂

    Hi Silvia!
Do you think Beyond Foundations can be suitable for me and Vita when the Foundation class ends? I know we have been taking the foundation klass really in our own pace -- but it feels like this could be a fun challenge, she has done such a progress lately. Of course I will take it in the right pace for my young dog.

Yes, given this class doesn’t have time limitations, you could start it now and just do what she can do -- and do the rest a bit later if needed.

So beyond foundations is a shorter class and you are supposed to maybe continue with extreme foundations afterwards, if the team has reached that level?

        • LoLaBu November 11, 2017 at 19:32 Log in to Reply

It used to be a 5 week class yes, but now it has no time limits, so you can finish it at any point, even if in two years.

Beyond is focused on handling and xtreme on training, so they’re very different and can actually be taken in any order.

I would like to take Foundations in February, as still have a fairly young puppy. So since this class is going to be open for posting for a long time, will registration be open for a long period too? I.e. after I finish Foundations?

    • LoLaBu November 16, 2017 at 16:27 Log in to Reply

Yes, you can join Beyond at any time, so it’s certainly best to do Foundations first -- and then you can take Beyond right after.

    Silvia,

Do you think Terry would be suitable for this class? Or should I just work on whatever we’ve gotten out of Foundations and focus on that for now?

Even though we’re not the fastest team, but he is running so much more efficiently now -- tighter turns/wraps and lines. That being said, I don’t know if you think he is ready for this.

Yes, I think this would be great class for you two, to work on your handling and cuing further!

ok, then we’ll do it! 😀

    Silvia,

My dog is just 6 months old, he just know “cik&cap” and tunnel. Which class is suitable for us and do we need to register it now?

    • LoLaBu December 8, 2017 at 15:41 Log in to Reply

The best next class for you is Foundations that starts end of February, after Puppy Class. The registration will open mid-February, so check back then!

What recommendations do you have about practicing agility when the ground is frozen? Could I do the sequences in this class with low or no jumps on frozen ground? It is very cold in Ohio and my dogs are very eager to RUN. Would love to take this class, but my indoor space is very small…maybe 24 x 40 feet.

    • LoLaBu December 29, 2017 at 18:35 Log in to Reply

I’m too afraid of injuries to let my dogs do any kind of agility on frozen ground, even if without bars… So no, I think it’s better to wait till spring -- OR do sequences inside -- you could do all the sequences in that space if you skip the tunnel and break the sequence down in two parts (before and after tunnel) -- we time them in parts anyway, so… Another option would be Xtreme, you can do lots of Xtreme in very limited space as well.
