Lanzarote trip :)

hiking, photos, To

So To needed to swim and walk in sand for her toe - and Canary Islands have the warmest sea temperatures in February, so... Off we went. We drove to Germany so we could have a direct flight. Because of the dogs, we were also limited with airlines and ended up paying more as 3 times as much as we would pay for just 2 persons!!! It's just crazy, but well, who would want to take vacations without dogs anyway - no thank you, even if they paid me!!!

Lanzarote was a great choice with mostly beautiful weather and great variety of beaches - from golden beaches in Papagayo (great for swimming because of natural wind protection - but a bit crowded):

to black beaches around El Golfo (the part with the green lake is closed, but you can walk a bit south from it - but the waves are too big for swimming) - colors are indeed as crazy as it looks!

to white beaches with black rocks contrast south of Orzola:

and sand dunes in Famara:

But it is a bit small for us that can't sit still on a beach 🙂 Especially as half of the island is covered with volcanic rocks that you actually don't really want to walk on:

So we saw everything twice 🙂 - walked all the beaches:

and swam everywhere the waves would let us in:

Yes, when not too windy, it was warm enough for us to swim as well. And well, To says it's always warm enough to swim 🙂 So when waves were too big, we took her to harbours 🙂

It's so funny to travel with just two dogs - we felt like normal tourists and for a change, acted like one, visited towns and all the most touristic places once we ran out of other options! I think we didn't look like completely normal tourists to others, but to us, 2 dogs felt like no dogs. Or maybe no-Bi feels like no-dogs? 🙂

We were really back to the roots with just 2 dogs and a Twingo - that was my very first car!

We usually look for places with no people and lots of woods, so this was very different trip and we did miss the green color some! But it was cool to see all the other colors and I just LOVED the black sand everywhere: on beaches, parkings and fields - so pretty!!!

To was sooo tired every night she didn't move at all for next 14 hours... Yeah, not as fit as she was 6 months ago, but we're soooo happy we can start working in that direction now that we're off strict rest. So if she is not in a picture, it's because she is either swimming - or freezing after all the swimming. Le only swims when too hot, so she was posing instead. Swimming turns that cutest ever little dog into a wet, freezing mouse:

So that's why we only include Le in pictures when she is dry 🙂

And To mostly looks like this - charmed by her favorite view:

And this happens when you forget a water bowl:

And some more pictures:
