- videos of my dogs running all the courses included
- minimal equipment needed: 5 jumps and 2 tunnels if you adjust courses and break them down - original courses include all obstaclesThis class is meant for those finishing Foundation class and everybody else who want to do some sequence/course work. The courses consists of all obstacles, but it's no problem if you don't have all or your dog can't do them all just yet as you can always either break it in parts or exchange one obstacle for another, so all levels are welcome.

Hi Sylvia
I’m currently following your RC classes and I wonder if I can follow your handling courses or if it’s better to wait when the RC courses are over.
Second question, is it better to do foundation classe befor handling, I had followed your foundation DVD and Jaehaerys and me are currently drilling twice by week at my club.
I have found your RC classe so interesting and useful that I would keep on with you to improve our team and have more fun
Thank you
There is no need to wait till the end of RC no. Foundations are ideally done before Handling, but if you followed the DVD, then that might be enough. And if we find some holes, you can always do some more work on it in between, Handling has no time limitation so you can finish it any time.
Hi,
Can I use an other dog with each course or is it best that you always make the video’s with the same dog?
Thanks a lot. Thinking of to sign in for the handling courses!
Grz Marijke
All the classes are limited to one dog. Of course, I allow switches when there is a problem with the original dog, but you can’t switch them randomly no, sorry.
Hi Silvia,
I was wondering must i master the foundation dvd before doing this? Or doesnt it matter?
greetings
No, it’s not a must, but it’s certainly great to do at least some Foundations first, before going for Handling.
Dear Silvia, is it Handling II “advanced” and more “wide” level of Handling II class? Or it is different classes?
Handling I and II are two different classes that present different courses. Handling II courses are a bit longer and harder as Handling I courses.
Hi Silvia,
Hope all is going well!! Super well done with winning the EO with Le!
I was just wondering, the handling II courses, what size is the map? My training space is 40x15, so the handling I courses fitted well.
Delta and I are doing well. We still have some issues in the ring. Seems to be mostly startline -- she gets bothered waiting around and spooks easily by other dogs walking by etc, and then she doesn’t want to run. I have had her even so slow in the weaves that she walked, but at least at last show she didn’t do that again, and it went much better overall. So we getting there. I haven’t done much other training, other than the odd thing here and there, was focusing more on her confidence issues and also had a good winter rest.
All the best.
Did you try carrying her to the ring and then just starting with her, from hand? I did that with Bu at first, it really helped her to not get worried.
Handling II has bigger/wider courses, so you will certainly need to adjust them to your field or break them down in two part -- but it should work with some improvisation.
Thank you for the reply. I have tried a few things on the startline, but perhaps what you suggested is also good idea. We usually walk the “far” way around…and then I try to keep her attention until we run. But one can’t always control other people and their dogs passing.
I really want some good course work that can fit into my space, wanted to join the graduation class, but see it is up to 5 participation classes. So will work on getting to that number again ;-), as the XF is only audit.
Go well!
Yes, for most sensitive dogs I know, it’s best to warm them up away from the crowds and bring them to the ring in the last moment and make it all super short and intense. If you might need to wait for your turn, you can bring her crate and put her in a crate, so she feels safe.
Once her runs are finished, feed her dinner around the ring + give her something to chew on in her crate next to the ring to relax and see things are not all that scary.
Thank you Silvia for the comments and advice. Hope to see you in a class soon!!
Hi Silvia,
Are questions only allowed if signed up as a Participant? I won’t likely post videos but I will have questions. Thanks ! Lisa
You can ask questions also as an auditor.
Hi Silvia, I want participate in your handling class I, but I would like to know if Could the courses break in different parts to tape and send to you bit a bit? To improve every part with different handling Or Do I have to do the whole course together and send yo you?
Happy Christmas
Isabel
Breaking it down into parts is perfectly o.k.!
Hi Silvia
I had not noticed this course. Would this be better for Bu and I than the Beyond Foundations?
Thanks
Bob
That would be a good option too yes, but the problem is you don’t have enough room for these courses in your yard…
Hi! In which order would you recommend taking Beyond Foundations and the Handling courses? Is it Beyond Foundations, then Handling I and Handling II?
That would be the best order for those 3 classes yes.
