Great job Cheryl and Summer!!! It’s amazing how well she is using her body, considering she is a big dog and even with bad hips! And she sure seems to have tons of fun too! 🙂 Let me know which video you want for graduation!

Cool, getting there! Loved the putting the objects away! Good idea to use a plank on your legs for teaching a handstand to your legs too! For the heeling though, you need to stand more sideways to a target, not behind it. When you stand behind it, you practice wrong position, he is too far forward here: his paws should be where your heels are! If you see a target as a clock, don’t stand at 6, stand at either 3 for left side heeling or 9 for right side heeling! Also, the independent hug won’t work in stand position… Does he know the sit up?

  4. Sarah October 28, 2011 at 14:39 Log in to Reply

I rewatced the heeling video and realized that I had been teaching it wrong from the beginning. I will work hard on this for the next week and then post another video. He did have a sit pretty but I allowed it to be shaped into a stand but I can just name my stand and then start shaping the sit pretty again. I also forgot a few tricks like his cik and cap and limping I will add these to my next video.

Yeap, definitely try to get sit up again (and name it too), we’ll need it for several tricks in this class!

When does the next puppy class start, I have a puppy coming the end of Nov she will be 10 weeks old.

Wow, congratulations on your puppy!!! Another kelpie? The next puppy class starts beginning of February, that’s a pretty good timing for your puppy!

  6. Sarah November 2, 2011 at 13:09 Log in to Reply

Yes but this Kelpie is from Australia a little girl we will call her Rumble. I will start the class with her in February.

Try side approaches to cik&cap, no cheating and no figure 8s on one jump, that’s not a real turn! But hey, great progress with heeling!!! Very cute sit up too, slowly build the duration to work on his balance!

    Hi Silvia,

Here’s my graduation video. Sorry it has taken me so long but the last bunch of months has been crazy with me going back to school full time as a masters student, being a full time mom, and I am building a brand new house. Needless to say I haven’t had much time but we’ve been gradually been working away at these tricks.

I would like to take your advanced trick class in Dec, do you think we have accomplished enough to move on? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks so much for being such a great teacher 🙂

Wow, that was great! I’m impressed you mastered all those tricks so well with everything else going on! It sure sounds busy! Pixie looks like lots of fun, I love her intensity! Great slamming, very cute sit up, almost there with reverse figure 8 (just step over her less now!) and trying really hard with that handstand! Definitely looks ready for Advanced tricks! 🙂 Also, let me know which video you want for graduation!

Thanks so much for your comments Silvia! Pixie is a great little dog 🙂 She gives me 110% all of the time but she is very soft so I have to make sure I make it clear to her what I want and be patient.

I would love to have your newest trick video. Thanks for all of your help 🙂
