Just an old dog, learning new tricks…

I've been promoting new tricks for old dogs all along... With "we don't stop playing when we get old - we get old when we stop playing" being one of my favorite sayings. I definitely see a huge difference in how dogs age based on how stimulated we keep them as they age... Learning new tricks might be more important at that point than ever before.

And of course, it isn't any different for us, people - just that that part somehow slipped away... I wish I realized that sooner - but also later is better than never! 🙂 So I can finally say I do walk the talk, learning new tricks myself as well! Climbing was the first new adventure I ventured into - starting at 40+ years of age, so definitely a late starter 🙂 - climbing with friends half of my age...

As you probably know, we don't do things half-hearted here in Lolabuland 🙂 - it's either 0% - or 120%. Climbing got 120%. And that led to the discovery of yoga for more flexibility and balance, primal movement and gymnastics elements for more strength and coordination, slackline for more balance etc. The new tricks I've learned in the past year were countless and I feel stronger, more flexible, fit, coordinated and energized than ever before. We don't get unflexible when we get old... We get old when we stop flexing! 🙂

So yes - old dogs (and people!) CAN learn new tricks. And every new trick opens the door to even more things I want to discover, learn, explore and play with... I guess I'm inventing Tricks for balance, strength and coordination again - but for humans this time! So... - no time for getting old!

Anyway... - if you always wanted to learn or try or see something... Do it now! You are too old? It's never too old! And the only difference between a failure and a success is persistence - my life story definitely speaks to that. So if it takes 100 tries to mount that slackline - you can count on me to be even more dedicated on the 101st try as on the 1st try. Never give up, my friend. Because everything is possible. - With enough passion, enthusiasm, and a little bit of craziness. Be crazy! Be bold!

Exploring beautiful Sardinia - swimming, slacklining, hiking and of course - lots and lots of climbing. So only my pocket rocket got to come this time. Love the beautiful, green, warm and super friendly Sardinia 💕

I have somehow missed this post! Beautiful pictures Silvia! I started yoga this spring, and the difference in mobility but also strength is amazing. You are never too old to learn new tricks!

Yes, it’s amazing! Try aerial yoga if you have a chance -- it’s like yoga, just even more fun! 🙂
