School time!

20 Aug 2012
26 Comments

The summer is almost over - starting with the last camp for this year today!

And next week, the Puppy Class starts, in case you still want to join in! There are no age limitations for puppy class - we have puppies from 8 weeks to 12 years in that class! One is never too young or too old to learn.

Agility Foundations will start on 15th October - the registration opens mid-September. Yes, it's school time again!

Can’t wait to sign Cooper up for the October Foundations class and then a redo of the Running Contacts after that!!! Pamela

Looking forward to see more of Cooper! And yes, I agree with Amy, Foundations is my favourite class!

Ha ha…I was just going to ask when the October AF class begins! 🙂 I’m definitely going to do this class with Zephyr…and was thinking of repeating with Elsa but just read the description of the Handling class. I don’t know if this would be a better class for Elsa? I like the idea of starting now & not waiting for another 2 months. We’ve been working on the AF sequences this summer & weaves & see-saw. I don’t have an A-frame or dogwalk. Do you think we could still do your Handling class? If so, is Handling I , not Handling II, the class I should sign up for?
    Thanks!
PS…Beautiful photos of your hiking in Norway!!!

Sure, I think Elsa is definitely ready for Handling! You can always replace AF and DW with another obstacle or just leave that part out and restart after the non-existent obstacle 🙂 Handling I is easier and more active at this moment, so yes, maybe a good place to start!

Great, Thanks! I’ll be signing up soon! 🙂

How old do you advice dogs to be for the foundation class? Or when does the next foundation afterwards starts?

We’re joining the puppy class now and I can’t wait to begin!

    • LoLaBu August 21, 2012 at 19:03 Log in to Reply

For Foundations, the dogs should be at least 6 months.

Thanks… My dog is a bit inbetween, she was born on 31st of may so she’ll be 5 months when the class starts. Don’t know if I should try or wait 😉

Well, since Foundations cover A LOT and it’s actually hard to master it all within the 4 months of the class anyway, I would probably go for it, start with this class and then finish it with the next one (or on your own, you keep the access to all the material for ever anyway).

Thanks, indeed, I can take it a bit more slow with her! We’ll probably join in then and see how it goes along the way!

And oh, next Foundations will start in April.

Will there be a later puppy class this year? Puppy arrives home late October.

    • LoLaBu August 21, 2012 at 19:01 Log in to Reply

Next puppy class starts in January. I think that one will be perfectly fine for your puppy. By then, you can work on play and understanding that he can make you click&reward by offering action.

Thanks very much for letting me know about next Puppy class. I may audit the coming one for my 7 year old rescue dog to see if this is fun for him.

    • LoLaBu August 21, 2012 at 22:55 Log in to Reply

That’s a good idea too! Then you can start with a puppy right away and then join as a repeater (half-price) in January with the puppy!

what a cute picture! I’ll sign with Pepi for the foundation class too. Handling class would be great for Feline, and if no dogwalk or Aframe would be needed, I would like to sign in. How many obstacles and tunnels are needed for Handling class?

    • LoLaBu August 22, 2012 at 21:42 Log in to Reply

The courses in Handling class consist of all the obstacles, but you can always replace the obstacles you don’t have with some others and, if you don’t have enough obstacles, set and run it in parts. But I think 2 tunnels and 5 jumps would be minimum.

Puppy class was such fun for Spur and I. I highly recommend it (followed by foundations, twice, and then running contacts).

    Hi Silvia,
Do auditors get the half price discount for repeating a class? I could only get the offer to pay for the participant’s price.
    Thanks, Becky

    • LoLaBu August 27, 2012 at 12:31 Log in to Reply

Sure, that goes for auditors too, there is just no special bottom for that (as it’s not so common) -- you can just send it by paypal or I can send you a money request.

      • cabrismom August 29, 2012 at 03:31 Log in to Reply

Thanks for your generosity. I couldn’t figure out how to change the price on paypal, so I guess a money request is the way to go. I would like to audit the puppy class September that just started. Thanks.
