We’re back!

We're back! We had a great time and the dogs sure got lots of running - even some more as they hoped for, I never saw Bi as tired as she was after last few hikes 🙂 You can also see her fancy shoes in some pictures, her pads got all worn out on sharp rocks, so we invented super dog shoes that actually stay on (even in water!!!) AND allow normal running AND offer great grip, good enough even for rock climbing - AND are WAY cheaper as any other shoes! Those are rubber mats cut in a shape of her paw, fixed on with a tape for fixing carpets - it's double sided, very strong, but very soft tape that allows normal movement AND keeps a mat in place. Of course, as it's double sided, everything gets stuck on it for first few meters, but we can live with that. Another good tip for keeping the pads whole when hiking on hard surface for several days: keep your dogs' paw hair untrimmed. I only trimmed Lo's paw hair once and it resulted in bloody pads, so I always leave it alone now and it helps my other dogs a lot, Le's pads look like they never touched the ground after 10 days of mountains! 🙂 Bi's smooth coat couldn't help any, though - luckily, carpet tape shoes worked great!

And of course, happy 3rd birthday to Bi, the wild child!

And now to answering all 10 pages of your comments...

Welcome back and Happy birthday Bi!!!

It looks like a wonderful vacation. I wish I lived near mountains.
May I ask, what kind of camera and lens were you using? Those photos are stunning!

Thanks! Corsica is definitely one of our favourite places to hike, it’s beautiful and not too crowded. The camera is Nikon d90, lenses are 18-105/3.5-5.6 and 70-300/4.5-5.6

Thank you -- I have that camera and the first lens -- hmmm, my pictures don’t come out so nice -- maybe I need the other lens 🙂 (or a better photographer LOL )

Thanks for the great dog boot tips! I have tried every possible dog boot for our longer backpacking adventures and NONE of them work at all. Their feet usually manage pretty well, but those hikes where they swim, then run on hot sharp rocks do our older Border Collie, Ricky’s feet in almost every time.

Wonderful pictures! I am drooling all over them:) Looks like someday I will have to save up and come that way for some hiking! Happy Birthday Bi, hope you got some birthday cake!

Yeap, Corsica offers some really cool hiking! And yeap, that’s how Bi’s feet got hurt: after 4 days of swimming in lakes, then jumping on hot sharp rocks… We were desperate when I saw her feet as I was sure that’s the end of our hiking… We took a day off at the sea-side, only did swimming that day, thinking how to proceed and then decided to try with a tape. We actually wanted to get silver tape, but they didn’t have that one, so we tried the carpet tape and it exceeded all my expectations on how well it worked!

Herzlichen Glueckwunsch zum Geburtstag, Bi!! (Happy Birthday!)
Going hiking in the mountains is probably the best birthday present for a dog 🙂
Now that she has hiking boots she needs a backpack too 🙂

Yeap, and then I’ll be fishing it out of the first lake we meet! 🙂
