It's finally out! My 5th training DVD, on SPEED this time: Ready-Steady-GO! - or 33 Tips for More Speed! The DVD is 1h45min long and has 5 chapters, addressing Conditioning, Attitude, Games to play, dealing with Stress and making Agility training more about running.
Speed was always our favorite topic and having the fifth dog who is constantly setting best times of all jump heights and holding a record of setting best time on World Championships for 20 times (and even more times on EO) probably means we have something important to tell 🙂
I definitely recommend this DVD to all who feel their dog could still run even faster or deal with motivational or stress issues. You'll also learn a lot on my approach to agility and philosophy behind the training that makes them just as fast as they are - and a lot on conditioning that keeps them that fast that LONG! This DVD will also give you a good look into our everyday life as well as our agility trainings. So no, it's not just for dogs with speed issues! For me, it's actually the most important pre-agility step and we follow the 33 Tips all the time. And oh, it's mostly taken in beautiful Corsica mountains! 🙂

Hi Silvia,
Sorry I have been a bit off the grid. Will still finish Handling I at some point. Delta and I did our first unofficial trials this past weekend (League, so no qualifications), and it went well…even with no clear rounds. But what concerned me was she was a bit slow and yawned on the start line…friend of mine was discussing it, it she is a very nervous girl, so there might be some stress issues. Will this DVD benefit us for helping me make this lighter??
Lindi
This one can help yes! In short: create a clear routine in trials, use happy tricks as much as needed, keep stays as short as possible and trials as much fun as possible by using lots of her favorite toys and treats, making big party after every run. I’m sure she will get to love trials very soon that way!!!
Thank you Silvia. Will start working on this!! Rather now than later. Can’t show you video, as still with a friend (on her camera). Oh and our RC’s are coming along very nicely!!
Hi Silvia,
your CD is ossam! Thank you! Any way, I have few questions. My bedlington terrier (yea, I know, this breed is not very fast, but…) is 17 month, and we have training agility till 6 month. But we have several problems. First -- she doesn’t feel safely when she run through tunnel. Especially if there is some water in it. Then she even refuses to go in. And second -- when we have training in the yard, she is happy, fun and fast, but when we come to agility training ground, she becomes shy, concentrate only in food. It seems, that all fun disappears. So, can you give me any tips for change this situation?
To make tunnels more fun, make sure to use them only when they’re dry for now and only straight ones for now and only when they’re well fixed with sand bags. Try playing multi-balls game with it, so throwing one ball in one direction, then calling her back to the 2nd ball in the other direction through a tunnel etc. You could also let her chase her dog friends through tunnels. Once they see how much fun tunnels are, it’s easy to add other difficulties.
To help her get more confident on agility field and other new environments, take her to a new place twice a day, for every meal, and do some fun tricks for her meals there. Once she feels better in new environment, try playing too. It takes some patience, but it’s well worth it, I do it with puppies already.
Thank you!
Hi! I have a question: are the exercises in Ready, Steady, Go! suitable for a dog that cannot be off-leash? In some areas he can at least be on a dragging long line, but his prey drive is quite high and our recall isn’t good enough to compete with prey! I do have my backyard, but it’s about 100ft(30m) x 75ft(23m) with some obstacles in the way. And I occasionally have access to a small fenced park that is fairly large.
Additionally, I have a border terrier, so he’s pretty small if that makes a difference.
Thanks!
Yes, you can actually do all the exercises also in a limited space. But of course, it’s an extra bonus if you can allow lots of free running in a fenced park as well!
Is this DVD downloadable on multiple devices?
Yes, you can download to various devices -- but it’s easiest to download with computer and then transfer it.
