February Running Contacts class is now open for registration - and features some novelties!!! These are thanks to my puppy that can be a bit crazy at times, so I would like to avoid doing real DW for as long as possible + avoid thrown and static toys as much as possible as she can be a bit wild picking those up! I've also made those changes because I like changes 🙂 , testing new things and improving things - LOTS of things were adjusted since 2002 when I started training RC and many things changed since DVD came out as well.
So this class now includes a video of ground work I'm doing with Ta and instructions on how to work on turns, soft turns, straight exits and various handling with just a mat as preparation work for all the rest. The rest all stays pretty much the same, just that it goes much faster that way as the dog knows how to hit at full speed in all possible exit scenarios already before adding the dog-walk into the picture. This way you:
I will be publishing this new material together with original 1st lesson and you can still choose the original way without ground mat work if you want to! The idea is still the same, just the order is reversed a bit and made friendlier to young dogs and to people who don't have regular access to a dog-walk.
Of course, also repeaters can choose to either continue with wherever we left off the 1st time around - or do some mat work as well to make those soft turns after easier. Personally, I'm doing the same work as with Ta with To as well now - just because training two dogs is more fun as just one and because her soft turns could still be better and hits deeper and we don't want to do much of whole dog-walks because of her toe.
The rest all stays the same: you still need RC DVD if you don't have it yet and as all the feedback is completely individual, all levels are welcome to join the class, from total beginners to those wanting to work on turns, handling after etc. Minimum age for this class is 6 months and the minimum equipment is now just a mat - a doormat or smaller (and later on occasional access to dog-walk, ideally one that can be lowered) and enough room (living room is enough for very first steps, but then you will have to that mat to a yard or park and work there).
This class is 15 weeks long (+2 weeks of a catch up break in between) and starts on February 1st, but you can register already now and then enter the classroom HERE.
Please note that only those who took this class with the SAME dog before qualify as repeaters! Please make sure your are registered and logged in before you proceed to paying with paypal - this will ensure you will get your correct access automatically.
