Foundations Class

duration
6 lessons, one every 2 weeks
= 12 weeks of feedback + 2 weeks of a break in between
requirements
-minimal age: 7 months
- minimal equipment needed: 4 jumps, 2 tunnels, Foundations Revisited DVD, channel and see-saw (if working on weaves&see-saw as well)
- appropriate for all levels, total beginners to experienced dogs who could use better turns, more independence or speed

Good news for all, impatiently awaiting this super fun class! The classroom is now open - we're starting on October 6!

The class follows Foundations Revisited DVD. This is why the format has been changed:

  1. Ta taught me the importance of pre-obstacle work, so working on really very basic ground skills that make all the rest go way more smoothly... - so lesson 1 is all away from obstacles now.
  2. I couldn't stand people redoing sequences over&over again even when I kept saying not to do it... So now sequences are only in lesson 6, the rest are various exercises with lots of variations to make sure people are training, not pattering their dogs.
  3. My tunnels are sooo terribly bagged in the old DVD!!! So I had to make a new one with properly bagged tunnels! 🙂

What is different is the order, the emphasis, and the exercises and I also added some new topics, so the transition to Xtreme Foundations should be super smooth - this class certainly doesn't lack in providing MANY challenges. And definitely covers many topics!

Fundations Revisited DVD trailer

This class is appropriate for all levels, from total beginners from 7 months on - and also for experienced agility dogs - I promise to keep everybody challenged!!! All feedback completely individual.

Minimum equipment needed: 2 tunnels, 4 jumps and if you want to work on see-saw and weaves as well: see-saw and stick to the ground and/or channel weaves (ideally both!). + Foundations Revisited DVD of course.

Topics covered: play, fetching, static toys, stays, restrains, warm ups and cool downs, tight turns, sends, pushes, threadles and serpentines, come to hand, verbal discrimination, obstacle discrimination, tunnel sends, traps and turns (hard and soft turns), extension and collection, different crosses and handling, see-saw, weaves, tire, long, double and wall jump, how to choose sequences and adjust them to your dog, how to handle mistakes and more.

We'll be starting with the first homework on October 6, but you can register and enter the classroom already now.

Some graduation videos examples:

SAMI FOUNDATION, final video
Vicky foundations graduation video
Kairi - Agility Foundations Graduation

Video length limitation per lesson is 10 minutes per lesson (in total that means 60 min in 12 weeks of the class).

What does this course add that isn’t already in the video? (Except for answers to questions and video feedback)

It’s the feedback that makes the classes as great as they are. There are some topics added as well (weaves, see-saw) that are not in a DVD, but obviously, if you don’t need feedback to your work and have no extra questions about the program, then there is no point in taking the class.

This is “In’Side my Soul”, kelpie girl, 20 months next Friday.

        See you soon!!! 🙂

I’d like to take the foundations class next time you offer it so I was thinking about buying the DVD now. Why does the video cost $64 (plus shipping) but if I buy it with the class it’s $55?

IT’s the same with all videos -- they are a bit cheaper when you buy them in a package with the class…

    Hi Silvia!

I’m not sure if I have understood it right. Can I pay for the foundation class as an auditor now and then I will see all the lessons and videos of the last september class? Or do i have to wait till august for the next class?
    Thank you!

Yes, you can pay now for auditing and see everything from last class, you just can’t post questions anymore.

You only qualify as a repeater if you’re taking the same class for the 2nd time.

Mattie and I are planning on seeing you in August as well. Sure wish class would start sooner. As you can see, being patient still is not a strong suit! Enjoy your summer.

    Hi Silvia,

I already started training cik&cap, weaves and will start with RC next week 😀 All from you dvd’s 😉 I would like to join the foundations class in august (would have been better if it started earlier haha) to get some more feedback and guidance from you. Is that possible? Or can’t I start because I am already training it now? Can I also post RC video’s in the foundations class?

    thanks

Of course you can register 🙂 We’ve got everybody from total beginners to World Team members in that class -- always something more to train. In one lesson, you can post RC as well.
