To’s first trial – and first win :)

my videos, To, trials

The exciting part is that To can now trial since in Slovenia, the limit for A1 (jumps on 55cm) is 15 months. The bad part is that A1 starts at 8am - and A3 at 2pm, meaning I now have to be at the trial from 8am to 8pm and get up way earlier as I like to. So everybody who knows how much I appreciate to sleep long will understand how VERY motivated I am to get out of A1. - This is just to explain why I'm hardly moving by the end of our agility run, hoping we can keep those bars up ๐Ÿ™‚ - And we did it!!!

After 1st competition, we're already 1/3 into A2 and she even won overall, even though in jumping, we had one bar and a refusal on a chute (ooops, looks like I forgot to train something - sorry To - she is too funny when she goes looking for "real" tunnels when I send her back with a tunnel cue!). She was much slower as at home though, but the good thing about it is that she is knocking less at that speed so we will try to stay slow till A3 ๐Ÿ™‚ We still had best time and speed 5,37m/s, so I guess that's fast enough for now! Our next trial is only end of March, looking forward to it!

The others did great as well, Le and Bu won Slovenian Winter Cup and Bi was great again as well, but I crashed into one jump, oops - I guess getting up early is bad for me! - So To, make sure to keep running like this till A3!!!

To's first trial - and first win ๐Ÿ™‚

Aw, so exciting to see To in action, especially after watching her in the Puppy Diary. She is making me want a BC instead of a Mal for my next dog (though she at least has the correct ears for my shepherd loving personality ๐Ÿ™‚ ). Good job To!

I’m looking forward to finishing it, it shows some cool ideas how to make a training process really easy and efficient -- but it will need to wait till May when I finish the classes…

Really looking forward to seeing it! You are a great teacher -- I think many people would keep the “cool ideas how to make a training process really easy and efficient” to themselves, but you share them with everybody ๐Ÿ˜€

I like busting the myth that one has to train a lot to get a well trained dog ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s really not about quantity, but quality…

Congrats! To is really fabulous ๐Ÿ˜€ In this rate, you will get to A3 in no time- that means more sleep!
I usually don’t mind waking up early, but up until a month ago, my sister was trailing in beginners class and i just got up to A2 in November, so we arrived and 8 or sometimes 7am, and i didn’t even run until 2pm. How could someone expect good handling and runs from him/herself when s/he is tired?

More sleep is good! ๐Ÿ™‚ And I agree, I could survive it if I could go home after A1, but being at the trial site for 12 hours is a bit too much for me…

Silvia, your A1 courses are so much more technical than our lower grade courses in the UK. It’s great to see dogs being handled around more complicated courses right from the beginning which is what I try to do. In the UK Grade 1-3 courses are nearly always straight lines which promotes lot of fast running in extension and little else. great to see To starting of which such success. What a future !!

These two courses were a bit more technical as usually in A1 -- but I think average UK courses in lower grades are still more basic as our average A1 courses yes.

Wow, she looks great!!! So, maybe only one more trial to get to A3? I definitely don’t look forward to that part of having my next dog. Staying ALL day at a trial is hard for me, too. Looks like she should get there quickly!!! Oh can’t wat for part 2!!! Really fun watching part 1!!!

No, minimal amount of trials needed is 3 for A2 and then another 3 for A3 (so 6, if you run all clean of course -- I don’t know not even one dog who would get to A3 that quickly!) as only agility runs count. AND, minimal age for A2 (higher bars) is 18 months, so we’ll be stuck in A1 for a while that way or another… But I’m still happy as she made it all extra easy -- she sure is a great listener!
