Love my long-distance classes!

puppy class, students' videos, tricks

I just love my long-distance classes! Not only that it's highly rewarding to see all the AMAZING progress we're getting, I'm also learning a lot myself through watching all the videos and I'm getting some really cool ideas from the participants. I'm sharing two: Sarah came up with this idea of the independent cavaletti - through a line of salad bowls! How cool is that! And yes, that sure is the cutest puppy ever (Papillon X Jack mix, in case you were wondering):

Lexus Tricks Lesson 3

And here you can see Camilla's great idea and her Grace (poruguese water dog), hugging the puppy - that's just too cute!

Homework #4 (Part II) - silvia trkman puppy course

And yes, don't worry, I'm opening the registration for new long-distance classes (another puppy class, another handling class and a new, agility foundation class) in a few days! When not busy with answering all the questions ๐Ÿ™‚ we are having fun with LaBuBiLe Gang. Adding two recent pictures of Le on what we have been working on lately:

We LOVE your long distance classes too! I can’t believe how smart my puppy is (and how not smart I am sometimes). Thanks for the great advice and for everyone who contributes to make it so valuable.

Yeah, I’m also still thinking which from my dogs could handle the hugging the best ๐Ÿ™‚ La is definitely out of the game for that one! ๐Ÿ™‚

Can’t wait the agility fondation class!!!

    In what it will consist?
    which equipment we must have?
and what price do you think for it?

Agility foundations will focus on cik&cap and everything it comes with it (sends, sequencing etc.), but we’ll of course also address contacts and weaves. The minimum you need are 3 jumps and a tunnel -- 5 jumps and two tunnels is even better. If you wanted to also work on weaves and contacts, then you need channel weaves, see-saw and a plank, but I think not everybody is having that, so we will just focus on other things with those students who don’t have so much equipment. I’ll publish more detailed description within this week.

Silvia, I have your cik&cap dvd and I do with Azja only turns around trees. If this new class contains a lot of different tasks (that are not on the cik&cap dvd) I would be very happy. I have jumps without wings, but I can put some poles on both sides. Is it ok? I have plank, tunnel and channel weaves. I am interested in working on contact and weave tasks very much! ๐Ÿ™‚

Jumps without wings are perfectly o.k., you don’t need to add wings! We’ll be working on all those skills and sequencing as such, so the difference with the dvd will be that we won’t be teaching the behaviour as such (that is part of a puppy school), but focus on sequencing, using it in different handling situations etc.

How long should the tunnels be? Is a 6 foot long tunnel OK?

It would be good to have long enough tunnel that you can put it in U shape… But we can always work around it if somebody won’t have one!

Sure, it’s a good age to start, you’ll just need to go somewhat slower with some of the things we’ll be working on, but I will always write till what stage it’s o.k. to go with a young dog and when you need to take a break and work on something else instead. See you in class!

Hi silvia, Acqua is 14 months do you tink is good idea to take your agility foundation class? she is not experienced dog, and I donยดt have so much equipment and the place were I can use it is very far from my house. I have 1 tire, 6 jumps, a plank and weaves, Acqua learned weaves by 2x2 technique. when is your class starting? we are 3 friens Juan Camilo who is taken RC class, gariel and I, we want to take the class together, how much it would be?
I really love your long distance class, i have learned so much, Iยดm very happy ๐Ÿ™‚

        Thanks

I think you’ll be somewhat more advanced as most of the participants… But I’ll do my best to provide enough challenges for all the participants! The class is starting on 27th June.

I thought the agility foundation class was going to mainly concentrate on cik/cap, distance work etc. Maia is 2.5 years old, she also learned the weaves with the 2x2 method. I am teaching her cik/cap -- I am starting to send her around trees next. She is HORRIBLE at any distance work -- ie. she is a velcro dog, and here in Canada, we have a game in agility called Gamblers -- where the end sequence is all distance work where the dog has to complete a sequence away from you, you have to stay behind a line and cannot cross it. I hope that this class will help her be more confident and independant of ME! ๐Ÿ™‚ and teach her and me cik/cap!

Exactly. That will be the major focus, but we’ll also cover weaves, see-saw and contacts and some basic handling for those just starting. But if you are already happy with that area of your dog’s performance, you’ll just send videos and questions on topics that interest you and still need work! We won’t be forcing anybody to do that or another thing ๐Ÿ™‚

Silvia, maybe in the future you should create one more class …for your graduates! ๐Ÿ˜€ I plan to attend to the agility foundations and running contacts classes. Definitely I would like to attend to your classes infinitely ๐Ÿ™‚

Sure, that’s all in the plan! ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope to come up with a good programme till autumn and then start another class for puppy class graduates. -- Just to keep you busy and to make sure you keep up the good work! ๐Ÿ™‚

I just love the long-distance classes too! It is such a great idea and I also learn so much from watching all the other participants.

I would also like to do the agility foundation long distance class. That is just what I am working on with Tjejen anyway. Our cik&cap is not proceeding good since I am not sure if she is ready for next height or if she does tight turn when she comes with a lot of speed. Would be great with support for that. And we are halfway with the see-saw and I am unsure if my method is good. And…. well, I can find may reasons but the main one is that I find so much joy in the classes (and a lot of himework!).

I know, I sure keep you busy! If you enter Foundations, you’ll see you’re getting your first homework even before it’s starting!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh my.. I don’t know if I am to be thrilled or afraid.. I just have to join!! And hoping that Tjejen (or me) doesn’t get overworked… ๐Ÿ™‚

By the way, I am getting pain in my elbow from throwing all the balls and “rolling” the frisbee.. I am obviously sooo out of shape.. that is definetily a sign that I need to train more, right? ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeap, I know that pain too! I also get blisters from tugging with Bi… To play some more is always a good solution of the problem! ๐Ÿ™‚
